What's Holding You Back?

I'm training for a 10K with Jake and Linz. It's very fun and good. My hip has been hurting a little from an old surgery for a while, but I think it's getting some better.

I've been thinking while running over the past few days; what's holding me back?
Looking at the big picture, do you know what the answer is?
Me.

You're never really going to be in a situation in which you aren't in control of at least yourself. I'm not going to take the time to lay out all of the implications; we're all smart enough to do that ourselves (I'm a great believer in brevity).

So, look at something in your life; if something isn't right, fix it. There's more truth to "just do it" than many people are willing to admit.

( As a side note, check out David Grisman's site. He has some very unique, creative music and he gives out a free song every day, which is a lot over time)

  1. Great thoughts, Luke. Short and sweet, but a lot to think about. Thanks for the encouragement! I love you! :)

  2. I agree. My strategy for getting better at running has always been, when you feel like your legs are on fire, and your lungs are about to collapse, push a little harder. This sometimes ends in me laying in a ditch unable to breath, but that happens less and less often as one gets in better shape. The really hard part of this is making the application in other parts of our lives as you said. I too am a fan of brevity, so we'll leave it at that.

  3. Well Josh, I don't think pushing yourself harder in running is really a lesson you need.
